Privacy policy
Last updated 26 October 2026 · Draft
CivilAutomationLab (“we”) runs this website and Roads Automation Lab. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use them. In short: your files never leave your computer.
Your design files
When you choose a LandXML, CSV or text file in Roads Automation Lab, it is read by your own browser and the checks run inside your browser tab. The file and its contents are not sent to us or to anyone else, and we cannot see them. Closing the tab removes them from memory.
What is kept in your browser
To make the tools easier to use, the following are saved in your browser's local storage on your device only. We cannot read them.
- Your run history: tool, file name, date, settings and results (not the file itself). You can clear it from Run history at any time.
- Your “My standard” design table, the criteria you last used, and the coordinate system you chose for the web map.
Clearing your browser's site data removes all of these. We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising.
Services the website contacts
- Cloudflare (website hosting and the user database). Like every website host, it receives your IP address and browser details when pages load, and may keep standard server logs for security and operation.
- Google Gmail, which delivers the e-mail with your sign-in code.
- jsDelivr (free code CDN). Parts of the checking tools are downloaded from jsDelivr the first time you run a check. jsDelivr receives a normal download request; it does not receive your files.
- OpenStreetMap map tiles, only if you open the Web map. Tile requests reveal the map area you are viewing, not your file.
Your account
To use Roads Automation Lab you sign in with a Gmail address and a one-time code we e-mail to you. The tools are free. We store, in a database hosted by Cloudflare:
- your Gmail address, when you joined, and when and how often you signed in;
- what you do in the tools: which tool you ran and when, the name and size of the project file, the number of items checked, failures and warnings, which reports or Civil 3D files you downloaded, and error messages. Never the contents of your files.
- for security: a sign-in cookie, the one-time codes (stored scrambled and deleted after use or 10 minutes), and a scrambled form of your IP address used only to stop code-request flooding (deleted after a day).
We use this to run the service, to understand which tools are useful, and to contact you about the service if needed. We do not sell or share it. You can ask us to delete your account and its activity at any time.
Children
The website is meant for engineering professionals and students and is not directed at children.
